Det over 100 år gamle Det egyptiske museum ved Tahirpladsen i Cairo skal moderniseres.
Det egyptiske museum rummer over 120.000 genstande, verdens største samling af antikviteter fra Det gamle Egypten. Moderniseringen sker i et samarbejde mellem Egyptisk museum og en række større europæiske museer, bl.a. British Museum og Louvre. Moderniseringen finansieres gennem EU-midler.
